I have nothing but love for this place! It was magical. The Finca, Alba, her little bebesita and my volunteer group was just amazing. I learned so much while working on this Farm: improving my fire and cooking skills while using typical Costa Rican food, harvest beans, yuca, bananas, making steps and stakes and Albas knowhow in general was something i will never forget. I learned a lot about permaculture and sustanability. Being in contact with nature and yourself is truly an AMAZING experience I absolutely recommend! On top is Alba one of the most inspiring persons i've ever met! Only Love 💘
Me and a friend stayed one month at Finca la Quimera. From the first moment on I felt welcome and fulfilled. It was an enriching month full of good talks, swims in the river, a nice work experience where I learned about ecological agriculture and how we can work with nature instead of working against it and an insight in the Costa-Rican culture. Alba is so wearm-hearted, inspiring and honest. I am truly greatful for the experience and the Finca will always have a place in my heart.
My stay has truly been the most impactful experience in my life. Alba is literally living my dream life and it was such a blessing to get to experience life at her farm. I had so much fun learning to cook on a wood stove as well as helping in the gardens and learning more about permaculture and composting. I already can't wait to come back and continue to learn and grow from such a wise and caring women.
I stayed with my boyfriend Karl for about 3 weeks at Alba's farm and it's been amazing. The nature is pure magic and Alba is so passionate about what she is doing. She is really caring and we always felt welcomed. Every day was special and amazing. We enjoyed every second of it. We will always remember it. The dogs are unbelievably cute and crazy ;-). We highly recommend it. The people we have met were wonderful!!! Thank you for everything.
I Spend the First month in Costa Rica on this farm and it was the perfect start. I got to know a lot of different great people and was introduced to a very nice organized Farm. The farmwork itself was hard but rewarding, as we could see the differences every day! The acommodation was great and had a beautiful view on the surrounding hills and forest. A refreshing river was in walking distance and also a house with wifi, where a nice lady lives in:). On weekends we always did some kind of excursion and Alba (the Farmer) was Always happy to help us out with tips or rides to somewhere. For me it was a place where I could sproud and just be me. I met new friends and dogs (menta and baco) I never forget! I really loved this place and want to go back whenever its possible!!!
I love La Finca La Quimera. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been too. Surrounded by the mountains of Turrialba and wonderful people there is nothing more you need. Alba is a wonderful person with a beautiful soul. You can always talk to her about everything and I felt welcomed from the very first second. The whole place is so magical and I wish I would be able to stay forever. If you love a sustainable way of living in the most beautiful nature with wonderful people, this place is perfect for you. You will learn a lot and grow higher than the mountains of Turrialba.
Lots of love to the Quimera Family.

What a great experience! This is truly one of the most amazing places on earth. Alba managed to build not only a project, but a new way of living, of sharing, of feeling connected to yourself and what's around you. The farm is gorgeous and the work is so fulfilling, there is always so much to learn and Alba is always willing to share and guide you patiently through all the steps! I recommend this experience with all my heart and I'm so grateful for the month I got to spend there.
My time at Finca La Quimera was eye-opening, and even life-changing. Alba is truly committed to building a sustainable community in harmony with the planet, and I am so grateful to have had the privilege to be a part of it for a few weeks. The living arrangements were gorgeous, there are beautiful views all over the farm, and tons of flora and fauna everywhere you look. I found it extremely peaceful and healing to be surrounded by so much nature. I sharpened skills that I already had (gardening, composting, cooking), and learned new ones, including organic farming techniques, caring for chickens, and how to use a machete, among others. The work itself was rewarding, and I loved that we were able to work in the mornings and then take the afternoon to rest, recharge, and do our own things. At the end of my visit, I feel proud of the tasks we accomplished that will help the farm continue to grow. Even though the showers were cold, the view made them some of the most peaceful and cleansing of my life. I am so grateful to Alba and all of her neighbors (especially Alicia!), as well as my fellow volunteers, for welcoming me into the community and helping me grow. I can not recommend Finca La Quimera highly enough!
Finca la Quimera was my first Volunteer experience and it was amazing! I couldn‘t imagine a better farm than this.
I had so much fun working there, being around good people and enjoying the beautiful nature. It is the perfect place to have a little time out from the normal course of life. I learned a lot about farming and sustainable living. Alba is such a kind and caring person. She also has so much knowledge to share!
The accommodation was great!
The neighbour Alicia is a very hospitable and lovely person. She makes the best empanadas:)
I had an unforgettable time with all the volunteers and I would definitely go there again!
My time at Finca La Quimera was absolutely incredible! From the very start, I felt comfortable, welcomed, and encouraged to be myself. Alba is a fantastic host who ensures that each volunteer is cared for. Her farm is the most beautiful and peaceful space I have ever stayed. Waking up a surrounded by nature and abundant greenery was truly magical. The work atmosphere was so uplifting and the people were incredible! I will never forget my experience at Finca La Quimera!!
Much love- Sage from the bicho bunch :)
My time at Finca La Quimera was life changing! The atmosphere of Alba’s farm is the perfect combination of tranquility and adventure. Alba’s hardworking and loving personality is infectious and has moved me to follow my dreams and work hard. The determination she has for bettering the world is inspiring. The community around the farm was one of my favorite aspects. From the workers on the farm, to Alba’s beautiful neighbor Alicia, it’s easy to feel at home. The other volunteers I met on the farm are people I hope to be life long friends with. Sharing the incredible nature with like-minded people is incredibly fulfilling. Most of the time the work didn’t feel like work! The laughter, love, and commitment we all shared is something I will never forget. Thank you Alba, for sharing your home and encouraging others to live in balance with nature! Cheers!
Staying with Alba and baby Aura at Finca La Quimera was an experience of a lifetime. Alba is such a sweet, welcoming and warm person. She taught us everything she knows about farming, sustainable living and permaculture. The farm is well on its way and Alba has a ton of ideas and plans for projects but she also loved hearing all of us volunteers’ ideas. The accommodation is very nice and I enjoyed every minute with Alba, Aura and the amazing group of volunteers. Big recommendation! Remember to bring a good and bright headlamp!
Xx
I had a wonderful and grounding time at Finca la Quimera. Alba is an inspiring woman, living her dream of living in a forest and happy to teach you her knowledge about farming and everything else. There also where 5 other volunteers, we got a close group and worked, talked, cooked and laught together. The work was really varied and never boring, it even didn't really felt like work. The beautiful cabin and the incredible surroundings invites you for relaxing afternoons in the hammocks between the trees.
I did so many things for the first time and learned a lot.
Thank you everyone at Finca la Quimera for the wonderful weeks. Defenitly recommended.
We spend 3.5 weeks at Alba's farm and had an amazing experience! Alba is a very sweet, caring, impressive and strong woman who wants the best for everyone. She always takes time to explain and learn you new things about the daily activities on the farm. The work is very various, fun and interesting. Alba and the other volunteers inmediately made sure that we felt comfortable and at home. The farm and the volunteerscabin are beautiful and the surroundings are very quiet and peaceful. Since there is no electricity and internet this is the perfect place to disconnect with the outside world but to connect with nature and the other people on the farm. We had such a good time with the other volunteers and really got to know them in such a short period. Would 100% recommend to volunteer here ;)
I spent four weeks at Finca la Quimera. It was my first volunteer experience, so I didn't really know what to expect, but when I arrived I instantly knew it was a good choice! Alba is a very special and kind person and I felt welcomed from the first second.
I really enjoyed my stay there, it was a very special and grounding time for me and I think I learned a lot, also about myself.
The property is absolutely beautiful and we had a lot of time to chill and enjoy the nature around.
Thank you for everything Alba! You can be proud of what you have created.
And thank all of you other volunteers who stayed at the Finca for the great time!
My time at Finca La Quimera was a truly transformative experience. Alba has created a space to work towards her vision with like minded individuals coming from far to learn and grow with the finca. We learned so much about sustainable farming, building and lifestyle practices. Alba is very committed to make sure all the volunteers have an enjoyable and worthwhile time. We were able to see what progress came out of our work and how working in a community is so beneficial to all involved. I would recommend Finca La Quimera to any open minded people who are interested in a simple way of living. Thank you Alba for the opportunity, it was a truly invaluable experience
I had such an amazing time at Finca La Quimera. Having read about Alba’s haven of a place my expectations were quite high, but they were exceeded nonetheless, and I ended up going back for another two weeks staying for five in total. The tranquility and good vibes of this place was addictive!
First of all, the level of comfort was really high despite the lack of electricity. The cabin where the volunteers sleep is very cosy, the kitchen is well-equipped and clean, and the dry toilets are really practical and comfortable to use (again, with incredible views).
Secondly, and most important, Alba is such a positive person to be around. Her contagious enthusiasm, willingness to teach, and empathy made it such a good experience to work, learn and live at the Finca. Moreover, I really enjoyed the approach of turning challenges into opportunities and think of waste as a resource.
All good energy and my best wishes to Alba, her project, and all the future volunteers lucky enough to be part of it for a while.
Wow wow wow!my heart is so so full of love for Alba and the experience we had on Finca la Quimera. I already wish to return to the beautiful piece of land that taught us so much! The work we did felt so rewarding and built so much strength in my body. The shared experiences among the other woofers were irreplaceable. Albas vision for harmony radiates through every inch of the farm. We felt so at home here and so grateful for the lessons of sustainability. Nothing is waste and everything has a purpose / place. There truly was so much harmony and love on this farm. So incredibly blessed to have chosen and been welcomed onto this journey with so much grace and kindness. Albas directions are clear and her openness to suggestions is incredible. We all learned so much from each other, shared so many laughs, meals, and memories that we will hold so close to our hearts forever. This is an experience that I will share with others for the rest of my time. This farm has taught me that hard work pays off that listening, taking initiative and patience are priceless. The outdoor kitchen is beautiful and has convinced me I must have one at my own home. The outside showers are so amazing after a rewarding day of hard work. This was our first volunteer experience and not our last. Thank you Alba!
Alba is a real power woman. I'm so thankful to her and all the other volunteers that were there at the time for the unbelievable joy we had.
I was very impressed by Alba's project and I'm very happy to be a part of it.
La Quimera is the perfect place to learn about sustainable life, permaculture, nature, yourself and all the people around you. You will connect on a deeper and wonderful level. Doing everything together in a team from working over cooking to adventuring made us family.
Alba is full of ideas and positivity. She wants to teach you while learning as much from you wich is beautiful and impressive.
The Farm is located in the middle of the mountains and is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. The cabin for the volunteers makes you feel home really fast .
La Quimera is the perfect place for bird- and squirrlwatching.
You should also meet Alicia the owner of the little soda close by. She is a wonderful person to talk to and learn a bit of spanish while exploring and learning about the costarican kitchen.
My heart is full of love for all these people and this place.
This was one the best volunteer experiences I've had!
And all these memorys will stay with me forever.
"Estamos de paso dejemos bonitas huellas"
Muchas Gracias!
Saludos y hasta pronto!
Stay here! This was my firs volunteer experience, but I'm sure it will be my favorite. The experience exceeded my expectations.
Finca La Quimera is a remote farm in beautiful, tropical mountains above a river.
My favorite part was preparing breakfast with Alba and the other volunteers before work, but the dry toilets were a close second. I thought not having electricity would be an issue, but it was easy to get used to living without it.
Projects included a variety of tasks. During the three weeks I volunteered there, I helped with planting plants, digging pathways for the bananas, installing garden steps, building a bamboo compost bin, assembling a "banana circle" for gray water disposal, and preparing soil.
Alba is very knowledgeable and patient. She's a great resource for learning about gardening.
Besides gardening, I learned a lot about myself and working closely with others during my stay.
